I kinda take that back though, my grandmother tries to compete with what grandpa gets me, I dont think he pays any attention. At least everyone here understand swhy you love dolls so much, and we appreciate you for being you!! Try not to let it get you too down. I had a similar situation with another hobby I had (not dolls). I kept hoping and trying to make my parents support it, but they just thought it was dumb and a waste. Sometimes you just can't change people. All you can do is just make yourself stronger and know that you are doing this because YOU enjoy it and you don't anyone else to validate it- dolls are important, simply because they're important to YOU. Keep loving your dolls honey and come here when you need support for your doll hobby because we all understand you and many of us are in the same boat! Well, my parents are basically supportive of my various toy collections and fandom obsessions. My mother wishes I would spend more on clothing and things on that level, but I've never been a clothes horse, not at 13 and not now at 23.

When my parents do say something about the ammount of money I spend on toys, I mention that most 23 year olds are still boozing it up. When she complained about me taking the truck out last weekend for a stop at TRU (Toys R Us) I looked her right in the eye and said maybe I should go out to a club, to get drunk, get stoned and possibly get laid instead of going to buy a Bratz doll and coming home to read a good book. That ended any argument pretty fast. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Honey, I don't really have any advice or suggestions for you. I just want to say I know how you feel. Whenever I wanted my mother to listen to me, she was obviously so uninterested. When people suggested I sit and 'try to talk' to her, yeah, right! (No, I'm not squashing other's suggestions, I'm just saying my mother was 'beyond' that.) Trying to get my mother to respect me as a person was a joke! It still annoys me to this day. The only thing I learned from her disinterest was to NEVER treat my own DD that way. And I don't. I have a loving relationship with her. The point I'm trying to make is to hang in there. This IS a learning experience, even though it may not seem like it right now. If you have children one day, you'll remember this, and your children will benefit from having a more kind, loving mother. ((((Hugs))))

I don't have any real friends or family that truly support my AG collecting. I never tell anyone except HB when I get a new doll or new doll stuff because I'll just hear

I don't need to hear that. I live alone in my little apartment and my dolls keep me company. I'd love to know a live person who loves AG as much as I do but the closest thing I have is HB and AGE.

I know better not to ask for anything AG from anyone because they don't even want me spending my money on it, let alone them spending their money. I couldn't tell you how happy I'd be if I got something AG for a gift and everyone I know knows I like AG but I know the only way I'll get it is to get it myself.

I'm so sorry! It must be very difficult to live in that environment! My mom is very supportive of toys -- mostly because when she was 14 she came home to find that her dad had given away her Petite Princess dollhouse and the complete collection of furniture in it because she was "too old." The catch was, she had paid for everything herself, using babysitting money! So it was like stealing. It's hard, because parents are poised to be the biggest influence in your life, and because of that they can really hurt you.

As for what to do, I agree with a lot of what is said. If your parents ask you what else you could be doing, I might say, "Dressing in bikini tops and miniskirts, dying my hair purple, getting my lip pierced, smoking pot, taking X, booze, playing the hanging game, getting my nipple pierced, getting a tattoo. Getting a tatoo of a giant skull across my chest. Why, what do you WANT me to do?" Or try just mentioning some bad choices that your peers have made lately (if you're in highschool, there should be plenty of them). I think if they're hit with a nice dose of reality of what other teens ARE doing, they might realize dolls are better than a lot of other hobbies.

And if all this fails and they still can't believe that their are adults out there everywhere who are hopelessly addicted to the same then we could all contribute pictures to you with us with our many dolls. They do say a picture is worth a thousand words... and that way you'll have a couple thousand words in the end.... mwahahaha
